Gentweg, 2024
The home of the architect’s mother.
“…”
Originally built for a family of five, the house has grown too large for one person. Its rooms are now partially used as a bed & breakfast.
My mother loves cooking, gardening, and hosting family. Her wish is for the house to remain a welcoming place for everyone who visits. Now, living alone, the garden has become her sanctuary. The design transforms the traditional Flemish garden into a dynamic space, honoring her taste—a blend of nostalgia and practicality. Abstract elements are softened by the original, ornamental details of the house, creating a balance between old and new.
It’s a design that reflects both the house’s past and its future, continuing to grow alongside a mother, her children, and grandchildren.
